Insomnia Sweater

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

Having a bit of trouble sleeping so been doing this for a couple of nights now:

090509-sweater

All in all happy with it, could have been a bit tighter but does not show in photos when pinched in the back.

All inspired by Danny Choo and his Dollfie Dreams Dolls.

After looking at this again his sweater got a nicer finished edge, will be looking into correcting that ^^

Camden Mini Meet

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

As Mao had a heavy craving for Resin I managed to put together a small mini meet in Camden.

So we went four of us to Edinboro Castle for drinks, pub food and some dollie lovin on this freezing cold Saturday ^^

The Joy of watching TV

Keeping my hands busy while watching the news ^^

Had a bundle of grey yarn lying around from forever so decided to turn it into something wintery for Cinnamon.

So it turned into a long sweater and a funky cap. Had enough leftover to make another cap that I am putting up for sale.

Nice and warm for winter – maybe she needs some warmer leggings though lol.

Pre-Pink Meet Shoot

Just had to take this ^^

Still not done any shoes for Marilyn so she seems a little tinier than usual compared to the booted Scarlett and Cinnamon.

PINK!!!

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Ready for Sunday!!!

If I get time I will try to make a pair of wedges to go with it but only if time.

The inspiration was old pin up and wanting her to match her name, Marilyn.

So decided on a mohair sweater – but that was about it for the old pin up.

Rest is a bit more manga inspired, including the hair. Was deciding between the kiki wig and the dollmore that Cinnamon sported in earlier pics, kiki won.

Skirt turned out exactly as I imagined it – sometimes my ideas change a little from first thought to finalized idea but not this one. Even think it turned out a little better. The frill worked really well. Oh, I did cancel a ribbon idea simply down to the fact that I did not buy enough lol.

Butterflies was from a ribbon and cut them out and sewn on individually.

Marilyn had to borrow Cinnamon’s feet as she only has her high heel option and they looked kinda stupid in socks.

Brown Sweater Girl

Close-up of Lusis’ faceup done by me ^^. Pretty ok for a first try. Had some critical moments as when all the pastels blew off when I first coated it with Testors and the paint coming of the lips when I applied the shiny lacquer. But all saved so she is all photogenic now.

(I have not gotten around to finding a name for her yet so for now she is just Lusis as on the pack ><).

This was actually the first sweater I knitted when I first put the kit together from a very old yarn – once bought to make a knitted doll family when I was a teenager… ages ago. Little more left so made a crocheted hat and a knitted scarf. Scarf not in pics.

Belts are from some luggage tags that my hubby Robert got from one of the companies he made a website for. Perfect Unoa size ^^

Hotpants explained in earlier post.

Wellies made from table oilcloth and hobby foam pads for soles, glued and handstitched to the boot-body – there is a rain jacket in the pipeline…

Fluffy Sweater and Bag and some Hot Pants

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

My first post on my new Blog ^^

Have had my Lusis for way over a year but have not really gotten started until about now to do stuff with her.

Bought her as a kit on Ebay for way too much money before I knew about pre-orders and YJ! >< Oh well, you live and learn.

This was my first outfit idea that actually went from paper to fabric.

Had bought the yarn for a top for myself years back but the project never really took off so instead it is now a funky fluffy sweater and a bag – still loads left so there might be some more fluffy things to come…

The hotpants, ‘legwarmers’ and bag shoulder strap were the cut offs from my jeans as I am the height where everything is too long – bonus here is lots of nice scrap fabrics ^^

Cool plate in the background is made by my friend Phuc
– thought they were a good match but there might be a little bit too much red going on here… Or maybe it is just the hard flash.

Anyway, personally think outfit looks funky but the jeans fabric was a bit thicker than expected so the finish is not so good. Hard to tell from the photos but IRL it does show its weaknesses.
