London April Easter Meet

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

Started out with breakfast in Camden with hubby before taking the bus to the Royal Festival Hall.

Got there and got a big wave from Twirl’s mum – heh heh.

There was a concert on in the festival hall which basically made us a part of the interval entertainment – bit uncomfortable being the photographed ones but people were nice and generally very talkative and curious in a good way. Gave my card to a nice lady who was very interested in our playing around so if you read this, hello ^^

They played Ravel I think it was, very nice btw.

Headed home for dinner instead of going to Wong Kei so looking forward to seeing pics from that part of the meet.

Hope I will be good to go for the May EXPO…

My Easter themed meet girls

Cinnamon – Bunny outfit from scraps but it worked

Belle (not the bunny ^^) – Andolrea Unoss cat outfit, well, it had ears! And is pink!

Venus – My spring fairy so perfect for a spring meet ^^

Okayyyyy – un-official winner of todays costume contest goes to Blood!!!

There were a lot of other bunnies but he definitely beat them all by tightness of his bodysuit!

So serene

And the usual touch of madness

Last Minute Meet Prepping

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

Right, made some outfits today – yesterday by now – that I had been commissioned for and not gotten around to actually stitching together… Cut them weeks ago. Must remember to take pics in the morning.

And managed to get a quick outfit done for the Easter theme for Cinnamon and dressed Venus in a quick version of her final outfit… And managed to have her fall flat on her eyebrow on a John Lewis paperbag making it green!!! Rubbed it off and now she has half an eyebrow ><

Oh, and picked Pris out of the alcohol bath after two weeks and honestly, not much difference.
EDIT: And that is not true! Now she is striped on her lower legs!!! And got one white thigh and hand and one yellow thigh and hand!!! >< Sanding it is FFS!

London Doll Making Club Mini-Meet

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

Was invited to come join the London Doll Making Club to come present our BJDs and for us to see what they were into doll-wise.

Turned out that they make their own dolls out of cloth and some are doing their own porcelain dolls.
Would be very interested in making my own porcelain doll…

There was a small selection brought along that the members did show and tell about – arrived in the middle of this unfortunately as they seemed to have quite interesting reasons for being made.

Won some silk in their raffle, found a nice trim on their sales table and digged out a nice piece of fabric in their boxes of stuff ^^

Had some interesting conversations with the members and was told a lot of useful stuff which I unfortunately did not write down and me being rubbish with names, have now forgotten all about. If any of you read this, please tell me again ^^

Actually, got a bit confused over the location as I did not realise the meeting place was in a Church – I kinda expected a townhall/big office building.

Oh, and had my bus from Camden break down on me half way there as well – luckily one of the other busses on the directions stopped at the same bus stop. However, managed to get of at the bus stop after the one I should have been of at resulting in me having to trek the what, 300m backwards ><

And my trip home was delayed by stupid Waterloo Bridge being blocked of by dunno what - so generally I wasted a lot of time on travel today lol - bit like a normal workday. Oh well. London traffic for you.

But despite all my travel woes, weather was fantastic today and was good to finish a good meet with MauMau and Mich at Mackie D's (I learned a knew word today lol)

Sommer in the Snow! and Cinnamon too ^^

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Office was closed today due to snow so had an unofficial day off!

Maybe a good thing since I got this nasty cold I cannot seem to shake.

Anyway, really wanted to make a photo shoot outside in the snow but this proved really difficult as the snow kept coming, and a lot of it.

So as the day passed by and the light with it the snow got less heavy and I finally got myself outside and with the help of hubby and a couple of large umbrellas, managed to get a couple of photos.

Unfortunately the light kinda went + underneath the entrance cover thingy due to the snowfall so they are a bit rubbish. Shame.

And now my neighbours think I am mental playing around in the snow with dollies lol!

Snowy London Meet

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

Jan/ Feb meet came and went and looking forward to the next one.

Started out with the bus just going straight past me at and decided to take a cab instead of waiting another 15 minutes for a new one to show up and potentially pull the same stunt on me.

Got really nice comments on Sommer’s dress including one that thought it was part of a full set ^^ Yay! Thank you, you made my day!

Not much else to say other than I am really beat and apologise to all that I might have passed on my cold to ^^

All pics here.

White Afro

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

I have had this idea running around in my head for a while now after seeing some nail decorations in the Japan Centre down at Piccadilly, about making a disco diva doll with a white afro, silvery/blue makeup with sparkly stars and other tiny jewels.

Started to look around for a white afro – with no luck.

So decided that I had to make one myself but was not sure where to find the ‘hair’.

Looked around normal wig shops but the ‘curl’ were a little too big.
Even considered getting a Momoko doll and cutting her hair of but decided that that would be a little too expensive and rather stupid. Why waste a whole doll just because I wanted to make a wig?

Then, when in DK in September I picked up a Panduro hobby catalogue and just before Christmas actually had a look through it and DING! They sell doll curly doll hair by the bag!

When home for Christmas I made sure to pop by one of their stores and grab some white curls in a bag – or three of them.

Only used one, but tangled half of it up so glad I bought the extra bags – maybe I will make another one some day ^^

Took the most of Sunday, while watching the three extended versions of Lord of the Rings at the same time to make the head-cap and sew all of the hair onto it.

Lessons learned:
Use more than one strand of curly hair – use at least up to five or six at a time.
Make the head-cap a lot larger than you think it should be – the attaching of the hair makes it shrink

But, it worked anyway and it looks the way I wanted it to – apart from it being slightly ‘shorter’ than imagined.

Modelled by Cinnamon who is my guinea pig for most of my experiments (guess that is why she is getting increasingly dirty…)

Camden Mini Meet

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

As Mao had a heavy craving for Resin I managed to put together a small mini meet in Camden.

So we went four of us to Edinboro Castle for drinks, pub food and some dollie lovin on this freezing cold Saturday ^^
