Sommer – The Winter Fairy

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Finally finished her dress!

It did not quite turn out as I started out imagining it.
Think my first idea was long flowy sleeves. Bit too sterotype.
Then it was a very fitted long sleeve top but gave up on the sleeves, mostly due to time + the fact that the Elfdoll body is absolutely no good. Really bad silhouette and the breast are just really really weird looking, even when dressed!

So ended up as a sleeveless empire line flowy dress instead.

Skirt pretty much turned out as I wanted it.
It has two layers of soft tulle underneath, each with circular frill attached to add volume at the bottom.
One top layer of chiffon.
All three layers are two double circles of fabric sewn together to give the volume.

Forgot the whole bias issue so it is not the same length all over but when worn it is actually not that obvious.

Closure on back is made by crochet and pearls.

All in all I am pretty satisfied with the outcome.

All ready for the Sunday London Meet ^^

Noctarcana Schedule

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

OMG!!!

Iplehouse released their production schedule for first half of 2009!

So here is the plan:

I either:
A: Have to win the lottery
B: Change career-path and rob a bank
C: Sell something of value

And the reason why neither of the above will work:
A: I kinda have to play to win…
B: I would make a lousy robber and most likely get caught + the banks have no money anymore…
C: That would be my dolls and I am rather unwilling to let any of them go after finally having sourced a lot of them…

So guess I ruined my own plans before they could set of. Bollocks!

If I had all the money, and space, in the world I would get them all!
Since I do not have that much money and absolutely no space I am aiming for the Pierrot boys, Magician and some EID women…
Not that I have money and space for all that either…
Kinda have to have the Pierrot boys though since I got the girls and Akando – all other would be nuts. Why break the family apart?

Magician, sure I would be able to make a fancy tail and coats myself for a standard edition along the way.
Thank goodness Iplehouse produces standards of their limiteds.
Otherwise, I would be in serious trouble.

*sigh*

Funny!

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

Ok – I used to be a really big fan of Back to the Future.

So, browsing Dollmore’s site today made me giggle – maybe I should get one of these just out of Nostalgia ^^

… I am still giggling :D

Just had to take this picture although the light is no good.

He is sooo big!

Porcelain Dolls

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

Hubby mentioned the other day that he thought it would be a good idea if I stopped buying more dolls. Guess I have to be realistic and realise that yes, we do have limited space and in the current economic climate it might be wise to keep more of the finances available and not locked up in resin.

But, I am thinking, maybe I should just start buying smaller dolls and maybe sell off some of the big ones? Would solve both problems at the same time.

Anyway, after him having made the suggestion of no more doll shopping he gave me this link www.enchanteddoll.com

I am very intrigued by these creations. Even though they are not customisable in any way I still think there is a lot to them apart from being great works of art. Having said that, the price tag is heavy – could get quite a few resin residents for the same price as one of them.

But in the light of limited space, maybe this would be the solution?

Oh – I wish I had the space for something like this.

The Hunk is Home!

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

Picked up my Akando this morning after having a massive full English Breakfast after last nights tour around the West End.

OMG is that piece of resin just heavy!

Unpacked the box and found this massive hunk of a guy inside – I somehow did not imagine him to be SO big! The sweater I did over Christmas will about fit one of his thighs! Well, maybe it is not that small but it might as well have been as he is never getting into that one, like ever!

So, been doing a lot of posing him and am finding him incredibly hard to get to stand… Not sure I am the biggest fan of the big dolls. Guess I am more an MSD size fan…

Couple of pics – actually did not get one of him in standing position as I completely forgot due to just getting lost in how big he is.

Meeting the family

White Afro

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

I have had this idea running around in my head for a while now after seeing some nail decorations in the Japan Centre down at Piccadilly, about making a disco diva doll with a white afro, silvery/blue makeup with sparkly stars and other tiny jewels.

Started to look around for a white afro – with no luck.

So decided that I had to make one myself but was not sure where to find the ‘hair’.

Looked around normal wig shops but the ‘curl’ were a little too big.
Even considered getting a Momoko doll and cutting her hair of but decided that that would be a little too expensive and rather stupid. Why waste a whole doll just because I wanted to make a wig?

Then, when in DK in September I picked up a Panduro hobby catalogue and just before Christmas actually had a look through it and DING! They sell doll curly doll hair by the bag!

When home for Christmas I made sure to pop by one of their stores and grab some white curls in a bag – or three of them.

Only used one, but tangled half of it up so glad I bought the extra bags – maybe I will make another one some day ^^

Took the most of Sunday, while watching the three extended versions of Lord of the Rings at the same time to make the head-cap and sew all of the hair onto it.

Lessons learned:
Use more than one strand of curly hair – use at least up to five or six at a time.
Make the head-cap a lot larger than you think it should be – the attaching of the hair makes it shrink

But, it worked anyway and it looks the way I wanted it to – apart from it being slightly ’shorter’ than imagined.

Modelled by Cinnamon who is my guinea pig for most of my experiments (guess that is why she is getting increasingly dirty…)

Camden Mini Meet

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

As Mao had a heavy craving for Resin I managed to put together a small mini meet in Camden.

So we went four of us to Edinboro Castle for drinks, pub food and some dollie lovin on this freezing cold Saturday ^^

Minis invading the condiment bowl!

Minis invading Frankie!

Berry doing surreal while her lower body was having a restringing

All done – The diva is back!

Frankie giving Berry a lift up after the traumatic restringing

Afterwards he had his hair done by Einon’s new boy…

Before trying his luck with Sommer…

With no luck he turned to Hei for a shoulder to cry on…

Whereafter Hei decided to try his luck…

Hei/wanna see my abs?

Sommer/Gosh, no thanks!

Hei trying a new aproach – Strike a Pose!

Sommer seemed slightly more interested or just wanted to do a copy pose?

All the Mini Meet attendees – Cinnamon sporting her new Christmas sweater
